In his remarks, Allan said, entrepreneurs and corporate managers should pay more attention to how a person's lifestyle or business activities impact the environment and how important it is to set measurable indicators to monitor and manage environmental change. Measuring the impact of enterprises on environmental and social development has not received due attention in the past, and in many cases the methods used for measurement are not detailed nor comprehensive. Today's business operators must take this issue more seriously.
He also outlined how Shui On Land is making sustainability a part of everything it does as a business and explained how the company has evolved from being merely a property developer into a forward-thinking sustainable urban solutions provider.
Shui On Land is delivering tangible results in its sustainability efforts. It is the first China-based developer to adopt the Science Based Targets initiative (“SBTi”) and pledge to an emissions reduction of Well Below 2°C. And it is committed to reducing its carbon footprint further to ensure it creates a more sustainable community for all today as well as the next generation. More will be available in our ESG report, coming in mid 2022.
