Ambition
Reducing emissions is among our top priorities, and we recognise that our capacity to enhance the energy efficiency of our properties and our proactive development of efficiency strategies can generate value for our business while reducing our carbon emissions intensity over time.
2030 Targets
Transition towards carbon neutrality
Increase the proportion of total electricity consumption from renewable sources to 15%
Develop and adopt a company climate change policy
To be known for our human-centric building designs that meet or exceed international sustainability and health standards
Signature Initiatives
In March 2021, in our capacity as a subsidiary of Shui On Land, we have also committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (“SBTi”) to limit global warming to well-below 2°C above pre-industrial levels, and to further use our best endeavours to set goals that limit warming to 1.5°C in the future.
To further our commitment in emissions reductions, we have set additional KPIs in relation to the reduction of Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions intensity for assets that we have wholly or partially owned and operated for at least a year.
Our properties and their broader communities were designed and developed with reference to the sustainability guidelines, and most of these communities have received LEED for Neighborhood Development (“LEED-ND”) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. We minimise our energy use by leveraging energy-efficient systems, and a number of our properties have been equipped with energy consumption monitoring systems.
We have handled our waste according to applicable national and provincial laws and regulation, and also aim to go beyond simply meeting legal requirements, such as seeking to reduce, reuse and recycle the waste produced at our properties.
