Independent Non-executive Directors
Gregory Kam Leung SO, GBS, JP (蘇錦樑), was appointed as an Independent Non-executive Director on 7 September 2021. Mr. So is responsible for providing independent advice on the operations and management of our Group.

Mr. So was appointed as the Undersecretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the third term Government of Hong Kong on 20 May 2008. He was appointed as the Secretary for the Commerce and Economic Development on 28 June 2011. On 28 June 2012, Mr. So was appointed as the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the fourth term Government of Hong Kong until 30 June 2017. The Commerce and Economic Development Bureau is responsible for various policy matters including Hong Kong’s external commercial relations, inward investment promotion, intellectual property protection, industry and business support, tourism, consumer protection, competition, telecommunications, broadcasting, development of innovation and technology (until November 2015) and creative industries. Mr. So was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star in 2012 and appointed as a Justice of the Peace in 2004 by the Government of Hong Kong.

Mr. So currently holds directorships in several companies. He serves as a consultant in So, Lung and Associates, Solicitors since 2018 and an independent non-executive director, a member of the audit committee and risk committee of Blue Insurance Limited (formerly known as Aviva Life Insurance Company Limited) since April 2018, and has been appointed as the chairman of the risk committee since August 2019. He is the independent non-executive director and a member of the audit committee since 17 May 2019 and a member of the strategic development committee since the committee’s establishment in May 2021 of Orient Overseas (International) Limited (listed on the Stock Exchange with the stock code of 316). He has been serving as an independent non-executive director and a member of audit and risk committee of Investcorp Holdings B.S.C. (a company formerly listed on the Bahrain Bourse) since September 2019. He has also been serving as an independent non-executive director, chairman of the remuneration committee, member of the audit committee, member of the nomination committee since October 2018 and a member of the sustainability steering committee since the committee’s establishment in October 2020 of China Overseas Property Holdings Limited (listed on the Stock Exchange with the stock code of 2669), which he is responsible for giving independent strategic advice and guidance on the business and operations of China Overseas Property Holdings Limited. Mr. So serves as an advisor of Superland Group Holdings Limited (listed on the Stock Exchange with the stock code of 368) since March 2021. Mr. So served as the vice chairman of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong from 2007 to 2008, a Board Member of Hong Kong Hospital Authority from 2006 to 2008, a Council Member of Lingnan University in 2006 to 2008, a Member of Commission on Strategic Development from 2005 to 2007 and a member of the District Council of Wong Tai Sin District from 2000 to 2004.

Mr. So obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Carleton University, Canada in June 1980. In May 1984, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in law and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from University of Ottawa, Canada. Mr. So has been a member of the Law Society of Alberta, Canada since June 1985, a member of the Law Society of Ontario (previously known as the Law Society of Upper Canada) since November 1988, a member of the Law Society (England and Wales) since January 1989 and a member of the Hong Kong Law Society since March 1989.
