David Tak Kei SUN
Independent Non-executive Directors
David Tak Kei SUN, GBS, BBS, JP (孫德基), was appointed as an Independent Non-executive Director on 7 September 2021. Dr. Sun is responsible for providing independent advice on the operations and management of our Group.

He has a wealth of working experience in the accounting and audit industry. Dr. Sun was the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 2003. Dr. Sun was a partner of Ernst and Young since 1986 and Chairman and Managing Partner of the firm until December 2010. He was appointed as the Director of Audit of the Audit Committee of the Hong Kong Government from July 2012 to December 2018. Dr. Sun was the independent non-executive director at VTECH Holdings Limited (listed on the Stock Exchange with the stock code of 303) from January 2011 to June 2012. He was a member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority from October 2007 to June 2012, a non-executive director of the Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme Authority from March 2005 to March 2011, a council member of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from April 2006 to March 2012, a member of the Process Review Panel for the Securities and Futures Commission from November 2006 to June 2012 and a member of the Hong Kong Housing Authority from April 2011 to June 2012.

He was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star in 2006, appointed as a Justice of the Peace by the Government of Hong Kong in July 2008 and was award the Gold Bauhinia Star in 2017.

Dr. Sun obtained a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Business Administration from Kansas State University in the United States in July 1976, a Master’s degree in Accounting Science from University of Illinois in the United States in August 1977 and an Honorary Doctorate of Business Administration from the Open University of Hong Kong in December 2003. He is a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
